Welcome to the secret world of the Fryman Sisters—23-year old identical triplets living in rural Cynthiana. At first glance, they would be seen as typical young women. They’re very social, creative, and like most siblings, argue with one another. The majority of communication they have with the outside world is via their phones using video and texting apps.

The sisters, born with cerebral palsy, just graduated high school this past year. As their peers from high school leave their small rural town for college or new jobs, they’re having to navigate the harsh realities to find accessible caretaking in such rural areas. Two of them have been waitlisted for the past six months, while the third has just recently been paired with a caretaker who spends limited time with her. All three sisters want to start their new lives— Alicia wants to work at the gas station, Allison can see herself as a nurse, and Amber wants to go to college for art— but their mom, Lisa , sees a future where they move further into the country with goats and rolling hills, so they can all get away from their phones. As our fast paced digital world progresses and passes the Fryman sisters' porch and, social media remains as their gateway into the physical world, this work is meant to become a dialogue about sisterhood, interdependence, and an intimate portrayal of inaccessible caregiving in rural America.
